Ferret Show (or Ermin Hunting)
4 Racing Ferrets, 3 handlers in costume
Master of Ceremonies – Fiery Jack
Shows last about 15 minutes
The Ferret Arena entertains crowds of up to 200
Shows are weather dependant – as Ferrets don’t like bright sunshine and strong heat! We care for our ferrets above all other considerations.
The Great Escape
The Story so far… The evil lord Wolfgang Odious has captured all the ferrets from Ferretland and like the naughty boy he is, has imprisoned them within the Castle dungeon. In order to make their escape they have to find the secret passage which leads out of the dungeon, through the castle wall, up the inside of the cannon and round and round the curly clear moat. The fastest to freedom will be the first to emerge with all four paws out of the moat tube…place your bets please!
Fiery Jack’s Ferret Notes
The entire show is contained within an arena, with a 3ft high fence around it to prevent any pet dogs from getting in and the ferrets getting out.
There is also a secondary barrier made of bunting to protect the first fence from being leaned on or pushed against by the audience.
All ferrets are kept as pets at my home and I have bred and reared most of them myself, they are handled on a daily basis from the age of 6 weeks old and as a result are trustworthy animals.
The ferrets are neutered (this is
known to be used as a cure for ferrets that nip, and also greatly reduces their naturally strong body odour).
The ferret racing show is designed in a way that the public, if they wish, may pet the ferrets. They may do this at their own risk.
However, we do not let the ferrets free on the ground and we don’t let members of the public hold the ferrets; they are allowed a supervised stroke/pet.
The ferrets are kept in a dog proof cage (that is lockable if required)in public view as a part of the display.
They will be supervised at all times by an experienced ferret handler holding their own public liability insurance.
